I hope I'm doing this right. This is my first time blogging so, hopefully, this doesn't get lost in cyberspace. First off, I wanna give props to my shorty "dedo"--thanks for getting this going. Second, to start us off on the good foot, here's one of my poems for your reading enjoyment (because I know how all of you just LOVE poetry!). Feedback is optional but always welcomed!

Blue is my heart when
twilight seeps in like
a creeping disease menacing
my door with the shadows
of nightfall Blue
are your salty
kisses which speak of
secrets hidden beneath
the serene surface, a pact
with silence that I cannot
understand and echoes
of deception in approaching
thunder Blue is the
ocean of my love
into which you dive deep ignoring
the signs posted, the cold
comfort of fate
an assurance like an alarm
clock in the morning Blue are
his eyes, they
smile at me with
newborn innocence that
speaks of generations The sun
hangs suspended in a canvas
of blue and cloud which whispers
of new beginnings Blue is
forever and the
nowhere in between, it
is the call of sirens
on city streets, the
tether which holds you
down and draws you
out of hiding Blue is
forever sneaking between the
lines, shimmying between
the pages and mocking your
stillness until you run screaming
Blue is a misogynist in
armor that won’t yield a
word let alone hush the
aching soul Blue
is the earth from an
airplane or an astronaut’s
gaze, a sphere of aquatic
chance Blue is
the reason we wander, why
we choose one and not
another, why people’s heads
and hearts leak like
blue ink from a busted
ballpoint pen Blue
is my undoing, that voice
in my brain saying it is
almost over, this game I
have yet to begin
Blue are the mountaintops calling
me to join them, so close I
can taste them, the white caps
like rock candy upon my
bitter tongue Blue
is a bruise there’s
no escaping, the one
thing you desperately want
but cannot have Blue is
the mirror of time reflecting
crow’s feet and a thousand
missed opportunities
Blue is the slight impression of
your fingerprints on
my neck, the color of
the hollow of
your navel when dawn
ripens and glows Blue is
my soul when you
say my name Blue
is my rotting brain, the
synapses withered from too
much sadness, and blue are
the pills to fight my
inexorable madness Blue
bursts from the sky and
caresses the buds, the tendrils
drooping weighted by water Blue
is another door, a
new chance, a
hope
